The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) today announced the completion of its California executive team build out.

LA JOLLA, CA – August 1, 2016 – The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) today announced the completion of its California executive team build out, which began with the promotion of James R. Williamson to Vice President of Academic Affairs, followed this summer by the addition of four new executive team leaders—Richard King, Jennifer Crosby-Meurisse, Cara Miller and Julia Ronlov–the promotion of Jared Machado to Chief Financial Officer and the appointment of Douglas A. Bingham to Executive Vice President and General Counsel. With the new executive leadership team now in place, Steve Kay has announced that he has made the personal decision to return to the University of Southern California (USC) as a faculty member in the Keck School of Medicine and Director of the USC Michelson Center.

“The new leadership team brings together a diverse and highly experienced executive team whose expertise will be critical in driving forward TSRI’s strategic vision, and I am thrilled to have them on board,” said Peter G. Schultz, Chief Executive Officer. “I’d like to personally thank Steve for his numerous contributions and leadership over the last year, as well as his dedication to assembling such a strong team that will carry forward our focus on innovative science and translational research. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Alongside these appointments, TSRI has initiated a long-term strategic planning process that will build on the history of TSRI’s academic pursuits, while also further differentiating and solidifying TSRI’s position at the forefront of biomedical research.

“I am incredibly pleased with the continued momentum and progress toward the future envisioned for TSRI—which will ensure the Institute’s position as one of the leading academic institutions in the world,” said Schultz. “We look forward to continuing to build upon its scientific heritage with transformational alliances and partnerships, and ongoing scientific discovery.”
