Medical Student Research Internship Program

The Scripps Research Translational Institute (SRTI) leads pioneering studies in precision medicine with a focus on digital health technologies, clinical genomics, computational data solutions and community engagement. We invite medical student research interns to join our investigative teams for an engaging summer of patient-centered, translational research. The 8-week program is centered on a unique, 1:1 mentored research project plus 2-6 hours of group activities weekly including translational science seminars, skills workshops, summer intern journal club, faculty round table discussions, and patient rounds or participant enrollment under the guidance of a physician-scientist. Stipends are provided.

At this time, fundraising is ongoing to support medical student stipends – $4,000 without housing or $8,000 to include San Diego lodging for the summer. If you have funding from your home school or would like to join us as an unpaid research intern, please let us know in your application.

For medical students relocating to San Diego for the summer internship, we will help coordinate housing with other out-of-town summer interns.
