The International Services Office (ISO) at Scripps Research welcomes all international students, scholars and their families.

We hope your experience at Scripps Research is positive and productive, and that you will use the resources of our office to enhance your experience and to address any concerns. The mission of the International Services Office (ISO) is to provide comprehensive, professional and individualized immigration and support services in a welcoming environment designed to actively promote international exchange and further the research and training goals of Scripps Research.

ISO staff can support you in many ways, including personal, social and cultural matters; immigration expertise; travel questions; employment questions; health insurance and medical issues; support for dependents; and resources to support you on campus and in the community.

Meet the Team

Kimberly Young

Director, International Services Office

Kimberly Young oversees campuses in La Jolla, California, and Jupiter, Florida, guiding employment-based immigration matters like permanent residency sponsorship, O-1 visas, and complex cases, with degrees from Cerritos College, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and the University of La Verne. With more than 25 years of experience—including roles at Georgia Tech, Cal State San Bernardino, UC Riverside, and City of Hope—she specializes in immigration services, cultural adjustment support, and strategic partnerships that help international students, scholars, and faculty thrive in the U.S.
Kabee Vue

International Student and Scholar Advisor (CA)

Kabee Vue joined Scripps Research in November 2025, focusing on F-1 and J-1 students and scholars, with degrees from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and a career in international education since 2008. A first-generation Hmong American, she draws on her own experience navigating U.S. higher education and employment to help students succeed at Scripps Research and beyond.
Sonal Kalra

International Student and Scholar Advisor (CA)

Sonal Kalra supports H-1B and F-1 immigration matters and helps students navigate life in the U.S., drawing on her own move from India and travels to seventeen-plus countries for a broad cultural perspective. She holds credentials from UC San Diego and India's Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey University, and is dedicated to helping students feel supported and empowered in their academic and professional journeys.
Morayma James

International Student and Scholar Advisor (FL)

Morayma James is based in Jupiter, FL, providing on-site immigration advice and cultural programming for international students in partnership with the Graduate Program team. Originally from Puerto Rico and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands, she holds degrees from Florida Atlantic University and Lynn University, and has worked in international education since 2014, guiding students from admission through graduation and into their careers.
