Founded 100 years ago, Scripps Research is globally recognized for excellence across the life sciences and chemistry, and for pioneering discoveries at their intersection.
Our scientists work across six interrelated research departments, pursuing fundamental questions in immunology, neuroscience, structural and computational biology, cellular and molecular biology, chemistry and translational medicine.
Among their many contributions are major advances in understanding the adaptive and innate immune systems, sensory neurobiology and cellular signaling, and pioneering work in chemical synthesis, synthetic biology and biotechnology.
Building on this scientific foundation, Scripps Research has developed a first-of-its-kind translational research model designed to accelerate the impact of these fundamental discoveries on human health. Our drug discovery division, the Calibr-Skaggs Institute for Innovative Medicines, has advanced over a dozen medicines into clinical trials across a broad range of diseases, with more than 50 additional programs in development. The Scripps Research Translational Institute is pioneering new approaches to genomics, digital medicine and decentralized clinical trials.
The Office of Technology Development extends this model beyond the laboratory, partnering with industry, helping our researchers launching new companies and licensing innovations to ensure that discoveries reach patients and deliver real-world impact at scale.
