Senior Laboratory Director, Scripps Research

Emily Spencer has more than a dozen years of experience in human genetics research, overseeing recruitment and retention of participants in many large-scale genomics studies. Within the Department of Translational Medicine, she directs local implementation of Clinical and Translational Science Award network-wide exercises including the Common Metrics Initiative and the Trial Innovation Network.

Spencer received her doctoral degree in genetics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where her dissertation research focused on expanding molecular diagnostic methods for neurofibromatosis type 1 and related disorders.
