Scripps Research supporters got a look inside the busy world of biomedical research at the first event in the Front Row Lecture Series on May 31, 2018. The new series kicked off with a lecture titled “Reinventing the Biomedical Research Institute” from Peter Schultz, PhD, president and CEO of Scripps Research.
Schultz described the bold steps that scientists are taking to bridge the gap between basic science discoveries and clinical trials. Watch the full video here.
The Scripps Translational Science Institute recently hosted the 11th edition of the Future of Genomic Medicine conference. The talks covered a broad range of topics including disease diagnostics, genetic risk scores, cancer precision medicine and even sequencing in space. Select talks are now available to view online here.
Phil Baran, PhD, professor in the Department of Chemistry, will continue the Faculty Lecture Series on Wednesday, June 13, with a presentation, “Translational Chemistry.”
The lecture begins at 4 p.m. in The Committee Lecture Hall in the Skaggs/Molecular Biology Building (MBB2N), followed by a reception in the Beckman Building first-floor galleria.
For further information, see the Faculty Lecture Series webpage. The series is supported by an endowment from the Cochrane-Cartan families, established by Scripps Research Professor Emeritus Charles G. Cochrane.
