Mouse Mutants with Auditory Impairment: Overview

Welcome to the the database of mouse mutants with auditory phenotypes produced in the Mueller laboratory at The Scripps Research Institute. The mouse lines are generated through ENU mutagenesis. This site is updated regularly to report on new mouse lines that are identified in the screen. In our initial screen, we identified mouse lines that showed a defect in the auditory startle reflex. More recently, we have initiated a new screen that uses recordings of the auditory brainstem response (ABR) as a measure to analyze hearing function. Mice are also evaluated for vestibular defects and general nervous system function.

We screen mice in G3 for recessive and dominant phenotypes. Mutations are positionally cloned more rapidly than they can be analyzed in depth or published. We therefore provide information on the mice as they become available; they can be requested by interested researchers.
