Matthew Disney, associate professor in the Department of Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI), has won the Excellence Award in Science and Technology Research from the India-U.S. Chamber of Commerce, South Florida, for outstanding contribution in the field of research and education in chemical biology.

The award announcement cited Disney’s many honors, including the Eli Lily Award from the American Chemical Society and his research in developing compounds that target genetic abnormalities that cause diseases such as myotonic dystrophy, Huntington’s disease and cancer.

The India-U.S. Chamber of Commerce, South Florida, was established to promote the development and improvement of economic, commercial, cultural and financial relationships between India and the State of Florida.
