Letter from the Board

To the Faculty, Staff and Friends of TSRI:

The past year has been one of transition and unprecedented change at The Scripps Research Institute. President and CEO Michael Marletta, working with a committed administrative staff and faculty leaders, has charted an aggressive course for the future involving a major reorganization of the scientific departments that included the formation of new departments and the appointment of new chairs to spearhead Scripps' efforts to build on the great excellence of the past. This past year has seen significant administrative change as well, including the appointment of Senior Vice President for External Affairs David Blinder. Michael and David are developing a philanthropic plan to help secure the future of Scripps. The Board of Trustees is both excited and confident about Scripps’ future and looks forward to continued discoveries that result in the understanding and cure of human disease.

Richard A. Gephardt
Chair, Board of Trustees
