International Education Week (IEW) 2024

For the fifth year in a row, the International Services Office on both campuses hosted International Education Week (IEW) from November 18 – 22, 2024.  We were pleased to collaborate with a variety of campus clubs and offices that worked hard to offer fun events throughout the week, including the Kresge Library, the Graduate Student Council (GSC), the Network of Women in Science (NWiS), the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Scientific Diversity Association (SDA), the Scripps Pride Alliance and the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS).  International Education Week celebrates the importance of international education, international research, and the exchange of learning and ideas worldwide.  Thanks to all who organized or attended events!  Most of all, thanks to our amazing international students and scholars who make Scripps Research the powerhouse that it is and demonstrate the value of international education and exchange every day.

On May 13, 2022, Scripps Research celebrated the first ever World Day, organized by the Scientific Diversity Association (SDA) and co-sponsored by the International Services Office (ISO), Network of Women in Science (NWiS), Graduate Office and the Society of Fellows (SoF). The event was organized in celebration of the United Nations “Day of Living Together in Peace,” which takes place each year on May 16. 13 different cultures and countries were represented, with food, drinks and fun facts offered at each table. Over 200 people attended the event, which was open to the entire campus, and the response to the event was overwhelmingly positive. We hope that World Day will become an annual tradition at Scripps Research. If you want to participate next year as the host of a table, a volunteer, or an SDA member, contact the SDA.
