Format for oral presentation of a Group Meeting:
Presentations of research at group meetings are expected to be professional and instructive to the audience. The main principle is SIBKIS = see it big, keep it simple....
The big picture should first be stated, so that everyone has a sense of the importance and excitement that underlies the project. The talk should be instructive. Concepts should be explained in simple terms and all presented data should have clear labels and thoughtful discussion of the key points. Assume the audience are students who are being taught by you. The talk should flow from one point to another with the logic clearly explained. Speak directly to the audience and not to the slides. Speak in a clear loud voice. The quiet voice conveys insecurity and uncertainty. At the end, give a clear, simple summary, and come back to the big picture that was introduced at the beginning.
