Reception Honors Audrey Geisel and Dr. Seuss Foundation for Donation to Upgrade Auditorium

A reception at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) on October 13 honored Audrey Geisel and the Dr. Seuss Foundation for a generous donation to upgrade the institute’s acoustically renowned auditorium.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Geisel and the Dr. Seuss Foundation for this generous funding,” said Stacy Rosenberg of TSRI. “This donation helps preserve the auditorium as a place where the San Diego community can come together and enjoy world-class performances like the La Jolla Athenaeum’s concerts.”

The funds were used to install new carpet and handrails, among other items.

After the reception, which was hosted jointly by TSRI and the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, Brazilian jazz vocalist Luciana Souza gave a rousing performance with guitarist Larry Koonse and bassist David Piltch.

The October 13 concert was one of the first events since the auditorium reverted from The Neurosciences Institute to TSRI’s management.

Situated at 10640 John Jay Hopkins Drive, the Auditorium at TSRI offers celebrated acoustics, theater seating for 352, and elegant modern architecture.
