Welcome to the Yu Lab Website

Thank you for your interest in the Yu Group! This website provides up-to-date information concerning our research in the area of transition metal-catalyzed C−H activation. For prospective graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, relevant research projects that are currently in progress in our laboratory are summarized in the Research and Publications sections. A downloadable PDF file of our published work is also included. The Members section should provide a perspective on the composition of our group, both in terms of size and diversity.

Research Highlights from the Yu Group: 2002-current

*Discovery of Ligands for Enantioselective C–H Activation Reactions

Mono-N-protected chiral amino acids are the first class of ligands to effect a wide range of Pd(II)-catalyzed enantioselective C–H activation reactions. The stereochemistry of the a-chiral center of the ligand is relayed to the C–H activation transition state through conformational gearing.

*Ligand-Accelerated Catalysis in C–H Activation Reactions

Mono-N-protected chiral amino acids have been found to accelerate a wide range of Pd(II)-catalyzed C–H activation reactions including olefination, cross-coupling with organometallic reagents, and C–O bond-forming reactions.

*Ligand-Promoted Non-Directed C–H Activation Reactions

A series of carefully tailored mono- and bidentate pyridine ligands have been shown to effect unprecedented regioselective C–H activation reactions.
