Current Research

Nature appears to exert great effort to prevent toxic mistranslation from confusing serine or glycine for alanine by having multiple editing checkpoints. My research is trying to understand the chemical basis of this confusion, and the mechanism of the following proofreading step using x-ray crystallography, bioinformatics and biochemical assays. My another great interest is about the structural mechanism of non-canonical functions of human aaRSs, and their dynamic regulations.
