Statement from Richard Gephardt, Chairman of the Board

A comment on the status of discussions between TSRI and USC.

The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI), like all institutions, has the obligation to periodically review its mission and to engage in strategic discussions regarding future directions. While on secure financial footing in the near-term, changes in the world of biomedical research have made it timely and appropriate for TSRI to assess and review its options as it moves forward. TSRI firmly believes that such discussions should involve input from all important stakeholders in TSRI, including both internal and external constituents, and the institute is still evaluating its options. As these discussions evolve, TSRI will keep all stakeholders informed of its progress.
