Submit an Event

Have an idea for an event you think SoF should host? We are always interested in new ideas to enrich the careers and social lives of our hardworking Scripps Research postdoc. We highly encourage any suggestions from postdocs and other members of the Scripps Research community.

We ask that you keep a few things in mind when preparing your event proposal:

• Your event should be of interest and accessible to all Scripps Research postdocs. SoF does not sponsor department- or discipline-specific events such as journal clubs, small group meetings, or instrument demos.
• Your event can be postdoc-focused, postdoc and grad student-focused, or open to the wider Scripps Research community.
• Your event does not need to occur on campus or during work hours.
• Your event cannot be solely for the purpose of consuming alcohol. Nor will SoF provide funds for alcohol purchases for events planned by another organizations.

 

Examples of events we have hosted or sponsored:

• The Great Scripps Bake-off
• Puppies and Pastries
• Group trip to a Padres game
• Career networking meet-and-greets, panel discussions, and roundtables
• Improving diversity and inclusion in the sciences seminars and workshops

 

Examples of events we don’t host or sponsor:

• (Instrument)-users Group Meeting
• Women’s-only or Men’s-only trips
• Political rallies
