The Scripps Research Institute continues to seek new opportunities to contribute to science and society. In 2003, the institute announced plans to open a Florida campus, made possible by funding from the Florida State and Palm Beach County governments. In 2003, the institute also established a joint doctoral program with Oxford University, the first in Oxford's 800-year history.

Investigators at The Scripps Research Institute persist in breaking new scientific ground, changing the way we think about biological mechanisms and disease and creating new potential for improving health and the human condition.
