From the planning to the polishing, the sculpture took over a year
and a half to make.
Glass is an interesting material, because it does not form a crystalline
solid when it is cooled, but remains amorphous structurally. Solid glass
is considered to be a super cooled liquid.
Cooling is an important part of the process, and specialized kilns
were used to slowly and uniformly anneal the segments over the course
of several weeks.
