Temperature Homeostasis Regulates Metabolism, Health and Aging

Core body temperature (CBT) is one of the vital parameters of the organism.  CBT remains constant within a narrow margin of variation and even small changes can have profound effects. In the laboratory we investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms that mediate thermoregulation with a focus on specific brain regions recognized to function as the body's thermostat. Specifically, we investigate the mechanisms of fever and hypothermia and study the integration of temperature and nutrient homeostasis as they are the main regulators of metabolism, health and aging.
