Sonal Kalra
International Student
and Scholar Advisor

Sonal Kalra
is originally from India but has called San Diego home since she arrived on Christmas in 1999. Having transitioned to a new life in the United States herself, she understands the challenges faced by international students and scholars coming to the US for the first time. Sonal completed a certificate in Human Resources from the University of California, San Diego and also holds a Master’s degree in Textiles from the Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey University in India. She found her way into the field of international education when she was given the responsibility to issue visa documents for international students in 2001 at her prior employer San Diego University for Integrative Studies. She is grateful to have the opportunity to work with both international students and scholars. She wants to assist them in any way she can so that they can make the most out of their experience in the United States and become the scientists that they aspire to be. Sonal has traveled to Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Mexico and Canada. She hopes to travel to a new country every year. She enjoys meeting new people from diverse backgrounds, spending time with her family, and she loves Thai food.

Ashley Hull bio

Ashley Hull
International Student
and Scholar Advisor

Ashley Hull is an International Student and Scholar Advisor on TSRI’s La Jolla campus.  A native of the East Coast, Ashley’s passion for international exchange was sparked by the year she spent in Germany as a high school exchange student. Since that time, she has lived and worked in Austria, China and Kenya, as well as traveled extensively throughout the world.  Ashley holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in International Studies from Susquehanna University and the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver respectively.  Having personally experienced the challenge of adjusting to life in a new country, she strives to make the process as smooth as possible for TSRI’s students and scholars and their families.  In her free time, you can find Ashley baking cupcakes, traveling with family and friends, and enjoying San Diego’s beaches and parks.  She speaks German.
