Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Affinity Group

The Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CBB) Affinity Group at Scripps was created to support and enhance experimental science cutting across all the disciplines in the Institute.  The CBB will help design and implement quantitative analyses to extract knowledge and develop or validate testable hypotheses from large biological data sets.  The group is built on a core of expert faculty using and developing quantitative methods that span statistics, genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, and computer science.  It also serves as a nexus for the entire Scripps community of faculty and researchers that need access to quantitative methods to advance biomedical discovery and translational medicine.

The objectives of the CBB are to make the best possible tools for quantitative biology available at Scripps, to provide educational opportunities to Scripps researchers at all levels in the form of formal courses, invited speakers and individual training, and to collaborate with all faculty on experimental design and analysis of complex data.
