SEMC Director Roy A. Periana to speak at Florida Clean Energy Summit

Tallahassee, FL – Today, Citizens for Clean Energy, a coalition of businesses, educational institutions and community groups dedicated to bringing clean energy jobs, investment and technology to Florida, announced the details of the Florida Energy Summit to be held July 8th.

Incoming Senate President Mike Haridopolos (R-Melbourne) will attend and has agreed to serve as a moderator for the discussion on clean energy and future energy policy. "It is imperative that we have a frank and open conversation about Florida's alternative energy future," said Sen. Haridopolos. "I look forward to hearing the variety of perspectives raised at this Summit and hope they will lead to meaningful legislation in the coming months."

Other confirmed moderators include: Jack Sullivan of the Florida Research Consortium, Ernie Cox of Family Lands Remembered and Tommy Boroughs of Holland & Knight.

The Summit, to be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott, will bring together leading experts on renewable energy, solar power, energy efficiency, education, job creation and technology R&D to discuss the best way to protect Florida's energy future, while expanding job opportunities for all Floridians. Three panels will address the ways in which clean energy will impact: Economic Development, Environmental Benefits and Energy Independence.

The $75 registration fee for the summit includes reserved seating for a full day of educational panel discussions, breakfast and a noon luncheon featuring keynote speaker and supply chain expert Rich Holland, President of Holland Advisors. All education sessions are free and open to the public on a space-available basis including a wrap-up session, with summaries of the major themes from each panel and opportunities for public input, comments and suggestions.
