Roy Smith Appointed Director with American Federation for Aging Research
The Florida Affiliate of the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) has elected Roy Smith, chair of the Department of Aging and Metabolism at The Scripps Research Institute, to serve on its board of directors.

Smith will help set priorities and strategic initiatives for the non-profit AFAR Florida, established in 2008 to expand the national AFAR organization's efforts to support aging research regionally. Since AFAR's founding in 1981, it has granted $124 million to almost 2,600 scientists. For more information, see www.afarfl.org.
