Baran Paper Is JACS's Most Accessed in 2008
In 2008, a paper by the Baran lab at The Scripps Research Institute had the most hits and downloads of any paper published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS). The paper, "Synthesis of (+)-Cortistatin A" by Ryan A. Shenvi, Carlos A. Guerrero, Jun Shi, Chuang-Chuang Li, and Phil S. Baran (2008, 130 (23), 7241-7243) describes an inexpensive new method for economically producing a promising pharmaceutical steroid. (See the American Chemical Society journal list and News&Views article "Team Devises Innovative Method to Produce Highly Sought-After Drug.")

In addition, three Baran papers made the most-accessed list of the journal Angewandte Chemie for 2008 (see Angewandte Chemie).
