Title: Research Aide, Shipping and Receiving, Scripps Research Procurement

Duties: Bagging and coding mail; handling the paperwork for packages sent through firms such as FedEx, DHL, and UPS; delivering material to buildings on the East side of the La Jolla campus.

Started at Scripps Research: 1990. "This year I celebrated 15 years with the institute."

Goal: "I do my best to get the job done."

Background: A San Diego native. Previous work for a golf club corporation and a pest control firm.

Favorite Part of the Job: "I enjoy being active and moving around different parts of campus."

Family Life: Married last month to Karen, whom he met at his church—an important part of his life.

Extracurricular Activities: Playing the guitar, biking, hiking, swimming, working out the gym, and traveling. "I love getting away. I try to go somewhere like Big Bear, at least once a year."
