Chemistry of a Conference

On the first day of last month's 230th national meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in Washington, D.C., press registrants were given a package that described the science to be presented at the meeting—everything from chemical synthesis of organic compounds to a study that found coffee is the number one source of antioxidants in the American diet (as well as being the number one source of inspiration for writers). A number of chemists from The Scripps Research Institute were scheduled to present talks and posters at the meeting.
