Distinguished Lecturer
The Society of Fellows also hosted a talk in August as part of its Distinguished Lecturer Series. The series has recently brought figures such as Nobel laureate James Watson, president of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Nobel laureate Stanley Prusiner, professor at the University of California at San Francisco, and J. Craig Venter, president of Celera Genomics, to the Scripps Research campus.
Here, John Cohen, writer for the journal Science and author of the book "Shots in the Dark: The Wayward Search for an Aids Vaccine," takes the podium to speak on the AIDS epidemic and possible approaches for treatment and prevention.
