Three hundred and fifty San Diego high school students came to TSRI on March 12 to attend a science festival dubbed "X-Sci/2002." The event was designed to highlight scientific research in progress, state-of-the-art innovations in the lab, and opportunities for careers in bioscience.

Kim Bess, science director for the San Diego City Schools, told the students: "I hope this day gives you a small glimpse at the possibilities for the future. It's a chance to see the potential of what is in the backyard of San Diego County, the third-largest biotech center in the country..."
