A Noted Architectural Complex

La Jolla, California Campus

When the stunning three-building complex that plays sun against shadow and stone against wood was completed at Scripps Research in 1995, The New York Times hailed it as a “magnificent piece of work” and TIME magazine named it one of the best designs of 1996. Noted New York architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, subsequently selected to design the Obama Presidential Library in Chicago, worked with Joseph Wong’s San Diego architectural firm to define a 56,000-square-foot environment and make it conducive to world-class scientific discovery and thought.
