Information about the Dependent Care Spending Account

The Dependent Care Spending Account allows you to pay for qualified dependent expenses with pre-tax gross income instead of after-tax net income. Consequently, you do not pay Social Security tax, Medicare tax, and federal income tax or, in most areas, state and local income tax on the gross income used to pay for dependent care, up to a certain amount.

Participation in the Dependent Care Spending Account is voluntary. You make the decision to participate in the account annually. During benefit enrollment period you have the opportunity to enroll in this program; the account will become effective as of your date of hire. If you do not enroll during your initial enrollment period, you will have an opportunity each year during the Open Enrollment period.

$5000 Maximum family contribution per plan year

NOTE: As of 1/1/2019, the flexible spending account administrator changed from Tri-Ad to PayFlex. Receipts for plan year 2019 going forward will need to be submitted to PayFlex.
