Professional StuffI recently received my Ph.D. from the MCSC graduate studies program at The Scripps Research Institute while working with Walter Chazin and Dave Case. I am now a Research Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Assistant Director of the Program in Structural Biology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
My main research focus at TSRI was the three-dimensional structure determination of DNA both free and in complex with anti-cancer drugs using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). I have been involved in several projects, primarily working on the computational aspect of structure determination including NMR data analysis, structural refinements, and structure analysis. I will continue similar computational work in order to provide a resource in these and related areas for the Program in Structural Biology at Vanderbilt.
suppose is an analysis program I wrote for computation of RMSDs and superimposition of multiple NMR structures.
The html version of my resume contains more information about my professional interests and training.
Linux StuffI am a long time user of the Linux operating system. I'm running RedHat Linux 6.2 on a 850MHz Intel Celeron2 system. I enjoy the performance, support, and quality of the OS and applications available. If you have a PC and have not tried Linux, I recommend you do.
Iomega Zip/Jaz
StuffThis is probably where I got the word stuff, but anyhow, I think the folks at Iomega are making some pretty nifty devices. I've been using a Zip drive at home and a Jaz drive at work, and the performance and convenience of these peripherals are fantastic. You can never have enough storage, right?
Take a look at the free Linux software that I have hacked together for the Zip and Jaz drives.
Also, I have written some directions for using the Jaz drive attached to my Sun workstation.

Personal StuffI have been happily married to my wife Jennifer for 7 years. We met while doing our undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She has "retired" from her job as an Editor at Academic Press in their scientific journals department to keep a close eye on our son. We also enjoy our pets: a dog and a number of fish.
