How do we regulate our metabolism? To what extent do our genes, behavior and the environment influence the ability to defend metabobolic homeostasis? What are the molecular mechanisms that integrate cellular function with organism-level changes in behavior and physiology? How are these processes altered as we age?


We study these fundamental questions in neuroendocrine biology using the nematode C. elegans, a simple and powerful model system that is amenable to large-scale screens followed by rapid functional studies. Our long-term goal is to understand the ancient and conserved organizational principles that underlie the neuroendocrine control of metabolism.
