Milestone Accomplishments of Current and Past Group Members:

January 2013:
The group said goodbye to Dr. Shengxiong Huang, who has taken a Professor position at the Kunming Institute of Botany, CAS, Kunming, Yunnan, China.  Congratulations, Prof. Huang.

The group said goodbye to Yijun Yan.  Yijun will return to Northeast Agricultural University, Harbin, China, to defend his Ph.D. thesis.

The Shen Lab welcomes Dr. Guangbo Xie, Associate Professor from School of Life Science and Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China, as a Visiting Investigator.

The Shen Lab welcomes Dr. Jeffrey Rudolf from Department of Chemistry, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT, as a postdoctoral research associate.

October 2012:
The Shen Lab welcomes Dr. Huiming Ge, Associate Professor from School of Life Sciences, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, as a postdoctoral research associate.

September 2012:
The Shen Lab welcomes Dr. Hindra from Department of Biology and Institute for Infectious Disease Research, McMaster University, Canada, as a postdoctoral research associate.

August 2012:
The group said goodbye to Dr. Zhiguo Yu, who has taken a Professor position at Shenyang Agriculture University, China.  Congratulations, Prof. Yu.

The group said goodbye to Dr. Khaled Mahmoud. Khaled has taken another postdoctoral position at University of Kentucky.

June 2012:
Congratulations to Dr. Ryan Peterson who successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on June 4, 2012 and has been awarded Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Shen lab welcomes Dr. Qihui Teng from School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China, as a research technician.

May 2012:
Congratulations to Dr. Min Yin, who completed his Ph.D. research at TSRI, successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on May 29, 2012, and has been awarded Ph.D. from the Yunnan University, Yunnan, China.  Min has taken a lecture position at the School of Medicine, Yunnan University.

The group said goodbye to Drs. Xun Guo and Pengfei Xie.  Xun will take a new postdoctoral position at Yale, and Pengfei will return to China.

February 2012:
Congratulations to Dr. Zhiyang Feng, who has taken a Professor position at Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, China, on February 20, 2012.

January 2012:
The Shen Lab welcomes Dr. Mostafa Rateb from Marine Biodiscovery Centre, University of Aberdeen, Scotland, as a postdoctoral research associate.


November 2011:
The Shen lab welcomes Dr. Khaled Shaaban from College of Pharmacy, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, as a postdoctoral research associate.

October 2011:
The Shen lab welcomes Dr. Tingting Huang from State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism and School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China, as a postdoctoral research associate.

The group sends our best wishes to Professor Wen Liu (1998-2003) at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS; the Liu lab is featured in the October 31, 2011, issue of C&E News.

September 2011:
The group said goodbye to Min Yin.  Min will return to Yunnan University to defend his Ph.D. thesis.  

August 2011:
The Shen lab welcomes Dr. Xun Guo from Brown University, Providence, RI, as a postdoctoral research associate.

Congratulation to Dr. Geoff Horsman, who has taken an Assistant Professor of Chemistry position at the Faculty of Science, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

July 2011:
The Shen lab welcomes Dr. Pengfei Xie from College of Pharmacy, Oregon State University, as a postdoctoral research associate.

The Shen lab welcomes Dr. Thomas Kwong from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, as a postdoctoral research associate.

June 2011:
Congratulation to Dr. Mike Smanski who has been awarded Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Mike will start his postdoctoral position in Prof. Chris Voigt lab at MIT this fall.

May 2011:
Congratulation to Dr. Tao Liu who has taken a Professor position at Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tianjin, China.

The Shen lab welcomes Dr. Ming Ma from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, as a postdoctoral research associate.

The Shen lab welcomes Dr. Dong Yang from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, as a postdoctoral research associate.

The group said goodbye to Paul Dilfer and wished him the best in his pursuit of Medical School.

April 2011:
