2008 US Open Information This affects ALL employees on the La Jolla, California campus.

Times

Traffic

The largest crowds are expected on Wednesday through Sunday, particularly on Saturday and Sunday. Peak arrival & departure times will be 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. each day.

Approximately 200 buses will shuttle attendees from Qualcomm Stadium parking lots, where regular ticket holders are required to park, to the parking lots at the Glider Port and back. The crowds will enter the course from the Glider Port parking lots.

The buses will travel on city streets south of the Scripps Research campus. They will not be traveling on the I-5 or on Genesee.

However, some increased traffic on Genesee and N. Torrey Pines Road is expected as US Open staffers, members of the media, hotel shuttles, "sightseers," etc., come and go.

Attendees are expected to stay within the spectator area for meals. Some 20 food concessionaires will be located adjoining the course.

Parking

This affects all employees on the La Jolla, California campus.

1. Up to 45,000 spectators are expected to attend the US Open.  To ensure that spectators don’t park in TSRI employee parking spaces, and that these spaces are preserved for TSRI employee use, access to parking lots used by TSRI employees will be protected.  Check your parking lot listed below for controls and requirements.
   
   
2. Additional permits provided by the US Golf Association and Alexandria Real Estate will be distributed by TSRI Parking Services to those individuals parking in lots requiring these special permits. See Below.

• 3030 Science Park
• 3040 Science Park
• 3050 Science Park

These lots are electronically access controlled. There will be no change during the US Open. Employees will continue to use their TSRI access card.

• Lot 4 - in front of Beckman Chemistry Building
• MEM Building
• ICND Building

Controlled by TSRI Parking Services and Security Services. Employees should have their TSRI ID to show to the TSRI Security Officer.

North Torrey Pines Court (3301, 3366, 3377)

Both entrances to North Torrey Pines Court will be controlled by the US Golf Association.  Even employees who park in 3301 will need a US Golf Association parking permit to enter North Torrey Pines Court. Employees will be given a parking permit to show to the USGA Security Officer.

  Special permits will be issued in the lobby:
  - Wednesday, June 4, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  - Please bring your Scripps Research ID/Access card with you.



• Building 3377, 3366
  Your special permits will be distributed to you by Parking Services the week of June 2.

Scripps Clinic North Employee Parking - Lot 7

Controlled by Scripps Health Security. Employees should have their TSRI ID and their Lot 7 access card to show to the Scripps Health Security Officer.

• North gate entrance will remain open to employees
• South gate entrance will be closed for entry from
  9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday - Sunday

Carr B - CIMBio

Controlled by Alexandria Real Estate. Employees will be given a parking permit. Employees should have the parking permit and their TSRI ID to show to the Alexandria Real Estate Security Officer.

Special permits will be issued in the lobby:
- Thursday, June 5, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Please bring your Scripps Research ID/Access card with you.

3535 General Atomics Court

Controlled by Alexandria Real Estate. Employees will be given a parking permit. Employees should have the parking permit and their white 3535 access card to show to the Alexandria Real Estate Security Officer.

Your special permits will be distributed to you by Parking Services the week of June 2.

No Public Parking on Roadways or Streets in the Area

City of San Diego Traffic Enforcement will be towing parked vehicles from:

• North Torrey Pines Road
• North Torrey Pines Court
• Science Park Road
• Torreyana Road
• Callan Road
