Extension of Stay - Scholars

Extension of your stay MUST be requested by the Principal Investigator.

Requests for extension of stay for J-1, TN, H-1B scholars must be submitted by the host lab 90-120 days before the expiration date, depending upon visa category. Scholars in the following visa classifications should know their expiration date, speak to the PI in a timely manner and complete the appropriate TSRI request form to extend their stay at Scripps:

J-1 – Complete the J-1 Data Sheet and submit to the lab at least 90 days before the current DS-2019 form expiration date as indicated in Section 3 of the form.

H-1B – Complete the H-1B Beneficiary Information Sheet and submit to the Lab at least 90-120 days before the current H expiration date as indicated on form I-797.

TN – Complete the TN-1 Beneficiary Information Sheet and submit to the Lab at least 90-120 days before the current TN expiration date as indicated on form I-797 or your I-94 card.
