Due to heightened security requirements in the United States, the number
of security checks for U.S. visa applications has signficantly increased. There is no
way to know ahead of time which applicants will be subjected to a security check.
If a scholar's visa application has been denied because it has been referred
to Washington D.C. for a "Security Advisory Opinion" please notify the International
Office immediately.
