Arriving at TSRI
International Office Check-in
All international students and scholars MUST check-in on or before their first day at the International
Office upon arrival at The Scripps Research Institute. Students and scholars
receiving TSRI funds cannot be placed on the payroll until they have completed
the I-9 process in the International Office.
F and J visa holders are subject to the following SEVIS requirements: F-1 students
and J-1 scholars must enter the U.S. and report to TSRI no more than 30 days
before the start date on the I-20 or DS-2019 form and no later than 30 days after
entering the U.S. Labs should contact the international office with scholar travel
plans - particularly if they change.
Orientation
Orientation is hosted by the Human Resources Department and provides information about the available resources and policies at Scripps. Detailed information about orientation can be found here.
Services Provided by the International Office
The International Office staff provides services to international students
and scholars at TSRI related to their particular visa status in the U.S. In accordance
with U.S. immigration laws and regulations, the staff assist non-immigrants with
the following:
- Initial entry into the U.S.
- Travel/re-entry into the U.S.
- Transfers to/from TSRI
- Extensions of stay
- Change of immigration status
- Reinstatement of immigration status
- Waiver applications of two-year foreign residence requirement
- Employer sponsored Permanent Resident petitions for appointed faculty
- Accompanying dependents' issues
