All international students sponsored by Scripps Research must check in at the International Office upon arrival. Students in F or J immigration status must report to the International Office with their immigration documents to have their arrival validated in the immigration database (SEVIS) as soon as they arrive at Scripps and no later that 30 days of their arrival in the U.S. Failure to check in and to have your program validated may jeopardize your ability to remain in the U.S. to complete your studies or research. Immigration status must be verified by the International Office prior to the visitor starting employment at Scripps.
In addition to students sponsored by Scripps Research, all non-U.S. citizens engaged in research at the institute must report to the International office to have their immigration status checked in order to verify that their status is appropriate for the activity they are conducting at Scripps Research.
As part of the check-in process, all international students that are establishing residence in California must report their new address to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service within 10 days and notify the International Office as well. The visitor would complete and submit an AR-11 form available here. AR-11 forms are also available when the student checks in at the International Office.
