The Chemistry department of the Institute has an X-ray Facility which maintains
two X-ray diffractometers, Bruker-APEX CCD Diffractometer equipped with a molybdenum tube,
and Rigaku AFC6S with a copper tube. The X-ray data can be collected at room temperature
as well as low temperature.
The students can submit crystals of small organic or inorganic molecules for X-ray Structure
determination. Outsiders can also get structure determination done here. Since this is a TSRI
recharge facility, the outsiders have to pay a surcharge.
This facility also has a Perkin-Elmer CHNS analyzer for elemental analysis. We therefore do CHNS elemental analysis on organic compounds.
