Sample Labeling and Hybridization Costs:
For Investigators within TSRI, the cost for sample preparation varies based on which amplification and labeling protocol is used. For the Affymetrix labeling reaction (GeneChip Expression 3' Amplification One-Cycle Target Labeling), the cost is $400/sample plus an additional $50 for every chip the sample is hybridized to. For the Ambion labeling reaction (MessageAmp II-Biotin Enhanced Single Round aRNA Amplification Kit), the cost is $350/sample plus an additional $50 for every chip the sample is hybridized to. For the NuGEN labeling reaction (WT-Ovation RNA Amplification System), the cost is $450/sample plus an additional $50 for every chip the sample is hybridized to.
For investigators who choose to perform the labeling reaction themselves, there is a $25/sample charge for cRNA fragmentation, a $25/sample charge for hybridization cocktail preparation, and a $50/sample charge for the hybridization and scanning of the array.
For Investigators outside of TSRI, the cost for sample preparation includes an additional 85.9% institute mandated overhead.
