Research Focus

NADH dehydrogenase: from basic science to biomedicine

Our research is concerned with mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. Especially, we are interested in studies of the structure and function of NADH dehydrogenase. Structural and functional defects of the NADH dehydrogenase are involved in many human mitochondrial diseases (including Sporadic Parkinson's disease). We are attempting to develop the procedures to rescue NADH dehydrogenase defects in mitochondria utilizing the information derived from basic research of the NADH dehydrogenase.
