Setting up Exchange with Microsoft Outlook

How to Setup Microsoft Outlook 2003 to Connect to the TSRI Exchange Server

The following directions show you how to setup your Outlook with your Scripps email account (connect to the TSRI Exchange server). It is assumed that you have Outlook 2003 installed.

1. Open Mail Setup by going to > Control Panel > Mail. Note: If you don't have a Mail icon in the Control Panel, run MS Outlook to start the first-time Email setup Wizard.
   
2. In the Mail Setup – Outlook window click the Email Accounts button.


3. In the Email Accounts window select Add a new email account and click Next.


4. Select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next.


5. In the Email Accounts window key in the following information:
1. Microsoft Exchange Server: exchv1.lj.ad.scripps.edu
2. User Name: your full name or username.
6. Click the Check Name button. If it successfully resolves, you will get an underline beneath your entries. If not, check your entries and try again.

   If you are prompted to log in, username is LJ\yourusername (ie: lj\johndough) and password is your email password.




The following four steps will allow users to check their Exchange email from off-campus (ie from home on a notebook computer). Otherwise, skip to Step 13.

7. Click More Settings.
8. Click the Connections tab.
9. Check the box for Connect to Exchange using HTTP and click Exchange Proxy Settings.
10. In the https:// text box type in owa.scripps.edu
11. Click OK to close.
12. Click OK again to close out of the Connections window.
13. Click Next.


14. Click Finish to close the Email Accounts window.
15. Click Close to close the Mail setup window.
16. Open Outlook to start using your email account.
