Configuring Netscape 7.x for Exchange Email

How to Setup Netscape v7.x client to Connect to the TSRI Exchange Server


The following directions show you how to setup your Netscape email client with your Scripps email account (connect to the TSRI Exchange server). There are four parts to this document:

1. Configuring email client to connect to our Exchange server.
2. Configuring Sent Items folder.

3. Configuring SMTP server.
4. Subscribe to and Synchronize non-default/personal folders.

Configuring email client to connect to Exchange

  1. Launch Netscape Mail & Newsgroups.  Go to Edit > Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings and clicking Add Account.

  2. In the New Account Setup window select Email account and click Next.

  3. In the Identity window enter in Your Name and Email Address.  Click Next.

  4. In the Server Information window select IMAP
  5. Enter in exchv1.lj.ad.scripps.edu for both Incoming Server and Outgoing Server.
  6. *Note: If you do not see an entry for Outgoing Server, finish the rest of the instructions and follow the instructions for setting SMTP server towards the end of this document.

  7. Click Next.

  8. In the User Names window make sure your Incoming User Name is correct and click Next.

  9. Enter the name by which you would like to refer to your email account and click Next.

  10. Verify your settings and click Finish.

 

Configuring Sent Items folder

  1. In the left window select Copies and Folders.


  2. Under When sending message, automatically check the box for Place and copy in: and select Other.  Then use the drop-down menu to select the Sent Items folder.

 


How to Configure the SMTP Server

  1. Go to Edit > Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings.
  2. In the left column select Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).


  3. For Server Name enter in exchv1.lj.ad.scripps.edu.
  4. Check Use name and password.
  5. Enter in your User Name.
  6. Click OK to finish.

 


Synchronize to and Subscribe to non-default/personal folders

  1. Go to File > Subscribe.



  2. Check the Subscribe checkboxes corresponding to the folder you wish to use and synchronize with.
    *Note: If you have subdirectories make sure to expand the parent directory by clicking on the right arrow as shown below.


  3. Click on the Subscribe button.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click the Get Msgs button once to synchronize messages with the server.
