What is a BlackBerry?
A BlackBerry device is a hand-held personal digital assistant that functions as a cellular phone, wireless e-mail client, web browser, etc. Scripps employees who own, or are interested in owning a BlackBerry device have the option of entering into an agreement with IT Services to extend device functionality through Enterprise Activation with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
What is BlackBerry Enterprise Server?
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is a mobile email service designed for businesses that have the Microsoft Exchange email platform. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is connected to the Scripps Exchange server, providing secure, wireless access to company emails, contacts, and calendar items.
Who is eligible for a BlackBerry Enterprise Server account?
All current TSRI employees are eligible to request a BlackBerry Enterpriser Server account. Also, your email account must reside on the Exchange server.
What is the cost of an account?
PI's are entitled to the service free of charge. Any other TSRI employee with a BlackBerry device and Data Plan from their service provider (Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc) may use this service for a one time $70.00 service fee.
How do I sign up?
Requests should be made by email to accounts@scripps.edu.
Payment for non PIs can be submitted using the following options:
1) Form75 for transfer of funds made out to IT Services (Not available for Florida users at this time)
2) Check or money order made payable to: The Scripps Research Institute
