The Scripps Legacy Society

Perhaps the most profound way to keep your generous spirit alive is through planned giving. By joining the Scripps Legacy Society, you and your family will receive substantial tax benefits while providing vital resources that impact the future of medical history.

The Scripps Legacy Society is comprised of individuals who have made The Scripps Research Institute a beneficiary in their estate plans through any one of the following options:

  • Bequests — Donate to Scripps Research through your will or living trust.
  • Charitable Gift Annuity — Transfer assets to Scripps Research — often cash or stocks — and the Institute agrees to make fixed annual payments to you for the rest of your life.
  • Charitable Remainder Trust — A flexbile estate planning tool that enables you to make a gift (of $100,000 or more) in exhange for an agreement for you and/or loved ones to receive an income stream for life.
  • Charitable Lead Trust — Establish a trust that provides annual income to Scripps Research for a set period, after which the remaining trust assets are returned to you or your heirs.

The following gifts options not only provide substantial charitable deductions, but they are also a meaningful way to support the life–saving work of Scripps Research:

Members receive invitations for two to the annual Scripps Legacy Society luncheon, held in California, along with Scripps Discovers, and reserved seating at Frontiers of Science events.
