Research Focus
Genetic Analysis of Complex Human Phenotypes

Dr. Schork and his laboratory focus on the development and implementation of analysis methods for understanding the genetic determinants of complex human traits and diseases such as cancer, neuropsychiatric disease, and cardiovascular disease. These methods focus on both the design of studies making use of contemporary high-throughput, high-dimensional genomic technologies such as DNA sequencing technologies, multilocus genotyping technologies, and DNA microarrays, as well the interpretation of the results obtained from studies making use of these technologies. Dr. Schork and his laboratory also consider the integration of studies making use of different technologies. In addition, Dr. Schork has a long history of collaborative research in which he has contributed data analysis methodology and data analysis expertise. For example, Dr. Schork is the Director of the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Core of the NIA-sponsored Longevity Consortium (http://www.longevityconsortium.org/), the Director of statistical genetics for the NIMH-sponsored Consortium on the Genetics of Schizophrenia (http://www.npistat.com/cogs/), the Director of Data Analysis for the GAIN funded Bipolar Consortium and a statistical geneticist for the NHLBI-sponsored Family Blood Pressure Program (http://www.sph.uth.tmc.edu/hgc/fbpp/).
