In one of its forms (left), TrpRS acts to facilitate protein synthesis. In the second form (right), the same molecule works to inhibit the formation of new blood vessels. For this activity to occur, the protein must first be broken into fragments, creating a piece called T2-TrpRS and revealing grooves that fit together with side chains of another molecule, VE-cadherin.
