Service Awards Recognize Long-Time Employees
California employees marked 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years with Scripps Research at the October 25 Employee Recognition Banquet, held at the Stephen Birch Aquarium.

"Tonight with music, events and pictures we celebrate employees who joined us in starting in 1974, and for each five years through 2004," said Judith Muñoz, vice president of Human Resources. "Among the 190 award recipients to whom we pay tribute, are five 35-year, seven 30-year, and ten 25-year honorees. Your longevity and dedication prove that TSRI is a great place to develop and enjoy a career!

"Of special note, this year we also salute employees at Scripps Florida who started in 2004 with the opening of that facility," she continued. "They have their very own special celebration scheduled for next month."

The San Diego evening included mingling and hors d'oeuvres during a cocktail hour, an awards presentation complete with music and video clips, and an elegant dinner.

The Florida celebration is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, November 7 on the Scripps Florida campus.

Scripps Research Celebrates First Annual Postdoc Appreciation Day

Scripps Research recently marked the first annual National Postdoc Appreciation Day with a happy hour sponsored by the Society of Fellows (SOF) on the California campus. The event drew close to 200 people.

"I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work in expanding scientific frontiers and improving human health," said Judith Muñoz, vice president of Human Resources, in a letter to postdocs. "Numbering over 700 strong across the La Jolla and Florida campuses, you and your peers perform critical roles in investigating new research avenues and publishing your research results. Your dedication and creativity are absolutely vital to the institute's successes."
