Position: Housekeeper, Environmental Services.

Responsibilities: Participating in the Environmental Services team effort to keep The Scripps Research Institute's La Jolla campus clean. This involves mopping, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash and recycling bins, cleaning rest rooms, disposing of sharps and other waste, noting any repairs that need to be made, and responding to emergencies. Ochoa takes pride in his work. "I especially like it when the floors start to look good."

Started at Scripps Research: February 2005.

Shift: 4 PM to 12:30 AM.

Background: Grew up in Mountain View, California. Worked five years for KBM Building Services before joining Scripps Research.

Goal: "To keep clients happy, with no complaints."

Recent Honors: Selected as the Environmental Service Department's Employee of the Year (with Housekeeper Tom Chanthaoudom). "I was surprised and excited when I heard the news. I'd like to thank the director, managers, and leads for choosing me as an Employee of the Year."

Thoughts on Scripps Research: "It's a great place to work and the people are friendly."

Outside Work: Spending time with his three children, six-year-old Christopher, four-year-old Elisalma, and almost-two-year-old Elizabeth, especially going to church and taking them to the park.
