Norman Klinman Receives Excellence in Mentoring Award
Professor Norman Klinman of The Scripps Research Institute’s Department of Immunology will receive the 2006 Excellence in Mentoring award from the American Association of Immunologists (AAI). According to the AAI, the award recognizes "exemplary career contributions to a future generation of scientists." Klinman will be presented with the award at the annual AAI meeting in Boston in May. Many of his former trainees will attend the ceremony and have planned a dinner in his honor.


Romer Foundation Honors Harry Orf
The Mathew Forbes Romer Foundation honored Harry Orf, vice president for Scientific Operations for Scripps Florida, at its annual "See the Light" Awards Ceremony on January 22. The foundation cited Orf for his role in establishing Scripps Florida operations, fostering the growth of its scientific community, and "shining a light on the urgency and importance of the breakthrough science and research that is occurring in genetics, childhood diseases, and neurology."
